My Takeaways: Using Toilet Paper and grass seed mixed together worked. But, it didn’t work any better (probably not quite as good actually) than working the dirt up and working the grass seed into the soil. For my fall overseed that turned out REALLY well, I used a slit seeder. A slit seeder makes little cuts in the dirt as it is dropping the seed so the seed gets great soil contact. What I’m saying is, I don’t think I will use toilet paper in my lawn renovations from here on out. So, for now, my favorite strategy for seeding new grass is to use a slit seeder (or a soil cultivator if it is a small area that doesn’t justify renting a slit seeder) then water the seed 3-4 times a day to keep it wet until it germinates. Then slowly taper off watering. Let me know if you find long descriptions like this helpful! #LawnRenovation
