Nearly 7 years ago, my life completely turned upside down. I had to leave the town I spent my entire life in, and move schools. I moved to 4 different homes in the first year because I was told, no foster home ever wants a teenager, since they come with issues. I was told I shouldn’t go to college, until my high school counselor shoved a SAT fee waiver in my hand, sat me down and told me “Arine you are too smart and you have too much potential to just give up on your life and not go to college.” For all the people in my life that took a chance on me, supported me through my wrongs and rights, and helped to shape me into the person I am today, I am extremely grateful. From my foster family who showed a broken teenage Arine unconditional love, to my amazing coaches and friends who showed me unconditional support. Thank you and I’m glad I didn’t let you down :) it was a long and difficult journey but new medication and a different diagnosis later… I’m a lot better now, extremely grateful, just a little less broken now, and soon to be a degree hotter with a degree in Computer Science and Linguistics! — DISCLAIMER: I will graduate soon!
